Refining our strategy
In 2009 – five years after the University’s adoption of the Growing Esteem strategy – it was timely to refine the strategy in consultation with the whole of the University community.
In June 2009, the Vice-Chancellor issued a discussion paper, Refining Our Strategy: A discussion paper that invites involvement and response via an Email to staff and an Email to alumni. The discussion paper raised many issues relating to the University’s strategy, such as the nature of higher education and changes to the external environment. Reponses to the discussion paper from the University’s community were aggregated into a single document: De-identified responses to Refining Our Strategy.
Over a period of two months, briefings and focus groups were undertaken to disseminate information on, and invite critical response to, the issues and questions raised by the discussion paper. An overview of the consultation process was documented in the Consultation Process Report: Refining Our Strategy.
Following analysis and further consultation, the University’s Council endorsed the revised Growing Esteem strategy document, Growing Esteem 2010. Information on implementing Growing Esteem can be found at implementing our strategy.
